How to play World of Tanks correctly
If you are among those few who have not yet played World of Tanks, these recommendations will come in handy. WoT commentator Oliver Maxfield shared some tips for beginners with us.
Tank selection
There are city maps and maps with open areas, as well as their hybrids. Choose a tank based on the type of map. In an open area where you need to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible, you will need something light and fast, like the AMX 13 90. In the city you need a heavier and more powerful tank with good armor in front. Most beginners choose tanks from their countries, but I advise you to try British or American ones first.
Be a team player
World of Tanks is a collective game. Shooting from cannons at the nearest tank is its simplest element. The most difficult thing is the strategy of how to be at the right time in the right place and clearly plan your actions. Fast tanks tend to have better visibility. You can add coated optics and a stereo tube to it, adding +10 and +25% to the viewing radius. In a team game, tanks with such equipment act as scouts.
Think one step ahead
As you move from one end to the other, always think about what awaits you there. The average battle time in World of Tanks does not exceed 7-8 minutes, and all this time you have to think about what you will do in a few seconds. The worst players in World of Tanks are the best players in Counter Strike. To play WoT, you need to be patient.
Don’t be a lone psycho
Always think about your team. You always need support, no matter how great a player you are.You must always be within sight of your comrades. This is a very important point for beginners, otherwise sooner or later you will be destroyed.
Know what your opponent is thinking
Knowing the plans of your opponents, you will be able to counter them more effectively. If, for example, the enemy uses heavy tanks on an open map, you can use their weaknesses. Without the right speed, the enemy will be forced to play by your rules, unable to control most of the map, and without accurate data on your exact location.
One for all
The more guns in your gang, the easier it will be to win. With every player lost in battle, your chances of winning decrease exponentially. Keep an eye on the HP of your ally’s tank, and as soon as it runs out, replace your comrade in the front line. An extra tank, even with a low level of health, can help the common cause for some time.
And lastly
Watch where you shoot. If your projectile hits directly into the armor, then you can forget about the quick outcome of the battle. Your protection is also important. The better armor your tank has, the less likely the enemy will decide to attack your vehicle. The appearance of your tank should tell the enemy that it is better not to mess with you.
Always be aware of the situation around you. Remember that one extra maneuver can decide the outcome of a duel or even the entire battle.
